My approach
I am an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist, which means that I will draw on a range of concepts and ideas tailored to your issues. So far, my approach has been most influenced by the person-centred, psychodynamic and mindfulness traditions, but I also enjoy working practically with clients in a more structured, CBT orientated way.
I believe that the client knows best and that many answers already lie within us, waiting to be uncovered. However, sometimes when we are overwhelmed, depressed or confused, it can be difficult to see a way forward. This is when it may be helpful to consider patterns, internal conflicts or the influence of past and early relationships. Mindfulness can support such an introspective journey by promoting calm, acceptance and being in the moment.
I can help you to explore your issues and to disentangle your thoughts and feelings in order to gain new perspectives. If you prefer a more structured way of working, I can offer you proven tools and techniques to deal with specific issues or support you in formulating and evaluating goals and planning realistic and sustainable steps towards change.

An initial meeting gives us both the opportunity to consider whether we wish to work together. Thereafter, it very much depends on the individual needs of each client as to how long counselling/therapy will last. I am experienced in providing both short- and long-term counselling/therapy. I encourage ongoing client feedback. This can be ad-hoc, or we can agree to review progress in a more planned fashion.
